Regions Field, the new baseball stadium for the Birmingham Barons located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, is an 8,500-seat stadium that sits adjacent to Railroad Park at the corner of 1st Ave South and 14th St.
The design of the ballpark roof pays tribute to the industrial history of the City and was inspired by the architectural language found at nearby Sloss Furnace, a former iron mill that is on the National Historic Landmark's Register.
The location and design of Regions Field fortifies the desirability of the UAB campus by preserving an open space connection to Railroad Park from UAB. It also has a significant impact on revitalizing downtown Birmingham by supporting local businesses, creating new jobs, and acting as a catalyst for economic development in the district.
The North edge of the stadium reinforces the connection to Railroad Park and the desire to continue to strengthen walkability and the 365-day activity of the downtown.
The "BIRMINGHAM" lettering along 14th St is an integral part of the building facade that allows the flow of air to cool the HOT summer day, block the western sun in the afternoon, and identify the ballpark from a distance.
The Birmingham Intermodal Facility combines several modes of ground transportation in one central location. It includes the Amtrak passenger rail, the MAX bus central station, Greyhound bus service, Megabus service, and the City's Zyp bike program. The $32 million facility also includes a Birmingham Police substation, a food service area, a retail space, and the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority's corporate offices.
West End Academy, completed in 2012, serves approximately 760 students in grades Pre-K thru 5th in the South-West area of Birmingham. The project was one of six new schools funded by the City of Birmingham to offer new, "State of the Art" facilities for students, while replacing and consolidating the number of schools to be served. The project included the demolition of all buildings associated with the former Lee Elementary School. The introduction of color and pattern added interest to design elements inside and out, providing a facility that supports teacher and student interaction and learning.

This project included the full interior and exterior renovation of the facility. The result was a fresh, clean, and modern image to help carry Whatley Health Services forward into the future.
Birmingham Public Library, in support of "Preserving the Past, Exploring the Future", worked with Studio 2H Design to preserve the good bones of the old Inglenook Fire Station located in North Birmingham. Through the application of a new exterior skin and fresh modern interior elements, Studio 2H Design created a totally new and exciting branch library design that would help to promote learning and support all the residents of Inglenook Community and beyond. The Award-Winning design is serving and is loved by the community as planned.
It has been dubbed "The Edge of Chaos". It was a dream of Max Michael, MD, dean of the School of Public Health at UAB, to create a space where "he envisions brilliant minds gathering to share ideas and develop solutions to local and global problems." The beautiful interior collaborative spaces created, on the 4th Floor of the Lister Hill Library Building, have been in use since October 2012 and they have transformed exactly as he had hoped into a space where groups get together to work out the tough problems of the world.

Our Design Staff can help develop new franchise prototypes. Our franchise experience goes beyond restaurants, having done work for franchises in the hospitality and retail industries.
Ard Contracting purchased a three-story professional office building to be utilized as their new Birmingham based headquarters. The property is located in Mountain Brook Office Park which enjoys the designation of "The Oldest Planned Office Park in The Nation." The building itself was outdated and needed a complete over-haul. Studio 2H Design worked with Ard who self-performed the construction as a Design/Build project, to fully re-design the interiors for multiple tenants and to give the exterior of the building a complete face-lift, which included a new curtain wall system, a new accessible entrance and canopy, and new stair tower addition. The beautiful design that resulted has improved the curb appeal of the park.
